This weekend was jam packed full of new experiences in the DC area.
First, I attended my first ever brunch… that just so happened to be in DC. Raleigh doesn’t really do brunch, we do Bojangles. My friend Whitney, her friend Bart, and I went to Mad Hatters in Dupont Circle. Can you say $10 unlimited mimosas? I couldn’t by the end of brunch.
I have realized while hanging out with my DC friends that I did not party hard enough in college. Pretty sure I was captain of that struggle bus.
Sadie wanted no part of post brunch mommy. All I wanted to do was snuggle with her. She said heck no.
Whatever.
I pushed my hurt feelings aside and shaped up for the National Symphony Orchestra at the Kennedy Center Saturday night. From brunch to a dressy event at the Kennedy Center… What was I thinking? Whatever it was, it was not clear thoughts.
It was also my first symphony experience, and having it at the Kennedy Center with the NSO wasn’t t0o shabby. They were really great! My favorite instruments are hands down the strings, with the violin topping that category. I just really like how they get so into it. Also, lets talk about the Conductor for a second. These people get paid thousands of dollars, if not hundreds of thousands of dollars, to look like they are having epileptic seizures on the most prestigious stages around the world. The one last night… wore a Mumu… But really… pretty sure I thought he was going to fall off his mini stage there a few times.
It really was a great experience, and I had a blast listening to a different style of music and learning the in’s and out’s of classical music. I went with my friend Amber, and she knew all about it. This was her jam. I am going to have to take her to a Lady A or Rascal Flatts concert and let her experience my jam.
My Sunday was filled with soccer in the morning and tanning in the afternoon. It could not have been a more perfect weather weekend in DC. It was fantastic. Whit knows somebody with a rooftop pool and I jumped at the chance to take advantage of that one. It was amazing. An entire afternoon atop a fancy apartment complex building I will never be able to afford. When you look over one edge you see the Capitol, and when you look over the other you see right into Nats Park. Don’t mind if I mooch off that at all…
