Daydreaming

I have been listening to a lot of daydreaming music lately. I just don’t know what it is about Bon Iver, Colbie Caillet, The Cival Wars, Need to Breathe and Ben Rector that just keep me from doing anything productive. I just get lost in the world of music.

Yesterday it took me to Raleigh. Oh, sweet Rals, I miss you so. Missing Raleigh in turn made me daydream of the weekend I am going to have when I head down to the 919 for the WOLFPACK home opener on September 15th.

First, I will be driving through Friday night, and I will beeline to Cook-Out. I will order my Cheeseburger tray with onion rings and a corn dog and wash it down with a pink lemonade. And you know what… I won’t feel a thing about it. I will chew each calorie like the sweet delicious morsel it is. Of course Sally will meet me there and we might just have to split our traditional double oreo milkshake. I don’t even know what to do with myself without a Cook-Out. I am going to just have to road trip to Maryland or something. You can’t really emotionally eat a Pop-Tart.

Saturday morning I wake up to the southern sunshine streaming in my window and not brush my hair as I speed to Helios with Sally in tow.  I will drink my iced coffee from a Mason Jar and I will blog on my Mac that is decorated with all my snowboarding stickers, and you bet your bottom dollar I will be wearing flannel. I don’t care how hot it is. I will turn back to my hipster ways, and I will love absolutely every single second of it.  Best part, there will be no judging NOVA residents there to think I have lost my mind. Oh to bask in the company of normal people.

Around noon I will get my hair cut… by somebody other than myself, and it will be a glorious tale.  My stylist will finish just in time for me to clasp my bigger than your baby’s head NCSU bow, head to Bojangles to pick up our tailgating box, and make it to the State Fair Grounds just in time to begin tailgating for the NC State v. South Alabama game. I don’t even care if I sit in a lawn chair for five hours and don’t talk to soul… I will be back in Wolfpack Country surrounded by Wolfpack Red and NCSU Chants. I am sick of this LET’S GO… HOKIES crap I hear all the time.  WHAT EVEN IS A HOKIE!? YOU CHEER FOR A TURKEY! So intimidating.

Of course, NC State will beat South Alabama… again, and we will go see the Bell Tower lit up in red on our way to The Court of Carolina where I will look up and actually be able to see the stars. Oh … my … gosh… the stars. You don’t see the stars here. And if you do, you actually mistake a star for a plane. What I would do to be able to just lay in the grass and star gaze all night. I would even shake a Carolina fans hand, high five a jerk from ECU and murmur “go Hokies” for a night under the stars. That’s desire folks.

Sunday Morning… another Bojangles run on our way to Summit. The afternoon will finish up with a walk through the NC Art Museum, because for some reason I lived there for four years and never went… What? I will also being seeing my second set of parents at some point in time. You hear that Judi!? And you are not allowed to wear anything VT. ;)

By the time I leave on Sunday I will more than likely have to be pushed and tied into my car to make sure I actually leave Raleigh. And as I drive off into the sunset towards DC blasting my ‘Katelun’s Mix” … I will be crying.  I always cry when I leave.  There is just something about being a hop and a skip away from your family, spending your days lost in the world with your best friend and Wolfpack Football.

Hokie, Hokie, Hokie, Hi!  vomit.
