Weekend Recap

Before I get started, I must say the outcome of the Super Bowl made me mad. I didn’t like the Ravens going into the game, but after they started some pretty serious fights throughout I have come to the conclusion that they are all just thugs. See ya Ray Lewis. And my favorite paid ad from the night was from Dodge. So God made a farmer sure did pull on some heart strings! Favorite non-paid for ad came from a social media genius that works for Oreo. Seriously Oreo, you should pay this person whatever it would have cost to run the ad.

Twitter was on fire last night. I probably paid more attention to my Twitter feed than the actual commercials.

Anyways…

This weekend one of my great friends from DC came down to North Carolina to visit! It was Nathan’s FIRST TIME in good ole NC so I was bound and determined to show him a few special things about my (and God’s) favorite state.

He arrived late Friday night, and I was bound and determined to show him good things do happen in Winston-Salem, but after a 6 hour drive all that was on the agenda was a movie. Krispy Kreme (which was founded in W-S for all you noobs) was out of the mix, and The Five Year Engagement was in. I must say this movie was pretty funny, but somewhere towards the end it took a really weird turn. They should have cut it 45 minutes sooner than they did, but it was a Redbox and it did make me laugh a lot. If you’re in the mood for something funny and don’t mind gross actors naked and covered in condiments, this is your movie.

Saturday we packed up the car and headed West to Banner Elk for a fun-filled day of snowboarding. My jealousy is out of control, because Nathan gets to go to Tahoe in two weeks to snowboard. Unfortunately my funds are keeping me from that epic trip… one day soon. There was tons of fresh snow and frat stars to fill the mountain. Apparently it was some fraternity’s formal trip or something up there and the mountain was litterd with crying blondes begging for their boyfriends to take them home. Yes, for the love take her away from here, far away.

It was really cold and very snowy on Saturday. It got to the point the sky was so white I couldn’t tell the difference in the snow. So one second you were riding on powder and then BAM holy sheet of ice. This is about the time Beech Mountain turned into a graveyard and you were spending more of your time trying not to hit people than enjoying yourself.

Saturday night I was finally able to show off some Winston-Salem favorite of mine. We went to dinner at The Loop and then to Kilwins for ice cream after. Winston just got a Kilwins and I am really excited about it. I didn’t take any pictures… whoops. Sorry about it.

After a really delicous breakfast (thanks Mom!) and a few hours of conversation, Nathan hit the road back to Dante’s Inferno Washington DC and left me with my dad and brother for the rest of the day. It wasn’t so bad. We just went to the driving range in 40 degree weather and crazy winds. I also took Sadie to jaunt around in the park. The driving range only keeps my attention span for an hour so the other hour and a half Sadie and I wandered around the woods. Sadie also decided that she wanted to become a professional goose chaser. I let her off her leash when we got far away from the side road and she bolted straight for the lake and flock of geese just minding their own business in the middle of it.

I did nothing wrong Mom, leave me alone.

I hope all y’all have a great week! I start my new job tomorrow and am pretty excited about it. :) I might have to celebrate with a hot now donut since Nathan deprived me of such deliciousness this past weekend. Maybe they will even have one with sprinkles!
